HHS Healthy People 2030 Proposed Objectives

IDSA has weighed in on the recently released Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Healthy People 2030 Proposed Objectives. These objectives consist of large-scale public health goals and priorities HHS sets every year for the upcoming decade and represent areas of federal interest and attention. Every 10 years these goals are evaluated with an opportunity for public comment. IDSA’s comments urge the robust inclusion of ID objectives to help drive federal support for the Society’s priorities.

For Healthy People 2030, HHS has consolidated the objectives, resulting in the proposed removal of numerous immunization-related objectives, sparking significant concern. IDSA is independently calling for the inclusion of meaningful immunization measures and is also working with broader coalitions on this effort. In addition, IDSA is calling for new objectives regarding antimicrobial resistance and stewardship and the ID impacts of the opioid epidemic.  We have also expressed support for objectives related to global health and STDs.
