Contagion Live spoke with IDSA Member Andrew Pavia, MD, FIDSA, on IDSA’s new guideline for seasonal influenza. The previous guidelines were written in 2008, just before the 2009 influenza epidemic. The updated guidelines address new information regarding diagnostic testing, treatment and chemoprophylaxis with antiviral medications, and issues related to institutional outbreak management for seasonal influenza.
