IDSA Continues to Push for Global AMR Progress
IDSA continues to work with the World Health Organization to implement the Global Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance. The WHO Interagency Coordination Group on AMR recently released draft discussion papers on antibiotic research and development, access to antibiotics, surveillance, and individual national action plans on AMR. IDSA provided recommendations regarding incentives for antibiotic and diagnostic R&D, antimicrobial stewardship, AMR awareness and prioritization in individual countries, and surveillance capacity in response to a call for comments from WHO. IDSA is also participating in a meeting with WHO leaders on AMR to discuss progress and next steps.
