Adel Mahmoud, MD, PhD, FIDSA

In Memoriam

Adel Mahmoud, MD, PhD, FIDSA, a pioneer in the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases around the world, died on June 11 at the age of 76. He was one of the most prominent and widely respected voices in global health. Dr. Mahmoud was the 1984 recipient of IDSA’s Oswald Avery Award.

MedPAC May Recommend a $2.4 Billion Increase in Medicare E/M Payments

IDSA Continues Promoting Emergency Preparedness Priorities

Congress is due to reauthorize the Pandemic and All Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA) by Sept. 30. IDSA has been urging Congress since the start of the year to include in the bill robust funding levels for public health emergency preparedness efforts, a new incentive for antibiotic research and development, and loan repayment for ID physicians who serve in CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS).
