Commemorating 15 Years of PEPFAR, Examining Challenges that Remain

IDSA cosponsored a Congressional briefing commemorating 15 years of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and looking at the challenges that remain in achieving HIV epidemic control. The briefing featured IDSA and HIVMA member Wafaa El-Sadr, MD, MPH, FIDSA of Columbia University and ICAP on a panel with U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator Ambassador Deborah Birx, MD and Sean Callahan, President and CEO of Catholic Relief Services, with former global AIDS coordinator and head of the Global Fund Mark Dybul, MD; NIAID Director Tony Fauci, MD, FIDSA and Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation Ambassador Martha Cameron making up another panel. Dr. El-Sadr discussed the need for continued U.S. leadership and increased resources for the global HIV response. The event flyer can be found here.
