IDSA Journal Reviewer
The IDSA journals are seeking additional volunteers to assist with the peer review of submissions to Clinical Infectious Diseases, the Journal of Infectious Diseases, and Open Forum Infectious Diseases. Journal reviewers are invited to review papers appropriate to their expertise and can accept or decline individual invitations to review based on their availability.

Did you know: The IDSA journals have a Reviewer Recognition and Reward Program, which provides consistent, year-round recognition for our peer reviewers as well as tangible benefits for our most dedicated reviewers. All reviewers who complete at least three reviews of appropriate quality and timeliness for one IDSA journal in a calendar year receive their choice of either free page charges in CID or JID, or a 20% discount on open access fees in any IDSA journal. Purpose

IDSA journal reviewers help ensure the quality and rigor of papers published in the IDSA journals.

Responsibility

IDSA journal reviewers evaluate individual submissions to the IDSA journals and provide comments to assist authors in improving their papers and editors in evaluating each paper’s appropriateness for the IDSA journals. For CID, you may be invited to review supplement articles which are a group of articles on the same topic.

Qualifications

Any IDSA member is welcome to volunteer as a reviewer for the journals in their area of expertise.

Composition

Individual review invitations are sent based on how well the content of a paper matches an individual reviewer’s areas of expertise.

Estimated Time Commitment

  • Journal reviewers are invited to review papers appropriate to their expertise throughout the year, as those papers are submitted to the journals. We expect each review to take 2-3 hours of time.
  • Reviewers may accept or decline individual review invitations based on their availability.

Method of Appointment

Reviewers sign up by logging in to the journals’ online submission and review system and entering their contact information and 5-7 classification terms describing their expertise.

Each journal has a separate database of reviewers, so individuals interested in volunteering with more than one IDSA journal should add their contact information to each journal’s online submission site:

  • Clinical Infectious Diseases: https://www.editorialmanager.com/cid/default.aspx
  • Journal of Infectious Diseases: https://www.editorialmanager.com/jid/default.aspx
