Purpose
To recommend to the Board of Directors recipients for the Alexander Fleming Award, Oswald Avery Award, Clinical Teacher Award, Society Citation Award, Watanakunakorn Clinician Award, Walter E. Stamm Mentor Award, the D.A. Henderson Award; and the Clinical Practice Innovation Award.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly review all completed nominations for the Society Awards.
- Score nominees in assigned award categories.
- Make recommendations for the selection of the Awards to the IDSA Board.
- A commitment to ensuring that principles of inclusion, diversity, access and equity are applied throughout IDSA governance.
Ideal Qualifications
- Previous winner of an IDSA or HIVMA Award.
- Experience with evaluating individuals for awards or other merits in a healthcare setting.
Number of Members
Minimum of 8 members
Composition
Members shall include a Chair, Vice Chair and between 6 and 10 at-large members.
Meeting Frequency
At least two conference calls will be held during the Society Awards selection process. Committee members will be asked to respond to email communications on a regular or as needed basis to review documents related to reviewing and scoring Society Awards nominations.
Estimated Time Commitment
Three hours will be needed for conference call meetings and an additional ~15 hours will be needed to review and score Society Award nominations (depending on the total number of nominations received during the call for nominations).
Method of Appointment
With input from the CEO, committee chair, and committee staff liaison, the members shall be appointed by the Board of Directors.
Term of Office
IDSA President-Elect serves as Chair of the for one year. The IDSA Vice President serves as the Vice Chair for one year. At-large members serve three-year terms.
