HIVMA’s Ryan White Medical Providers Coalition gives clinicians a voice in federal policy and programmatic decision-making to strengthen the Ryan White Program. The HIVMA is recruiting for three open positions on the Coalition’s Steering Committee that is comprised of clinicians working in Ryan White-funded clinics across the country. The Steering Committee meets monthly to stay atop of the latest policies affecting Ryan White clinics and patients, holds an annual Congressional advocacy day and organizes the annual RWMPC Membership forum in conjunction with IDWeek. HIVMA is seeking Ryan White providers in the Southern, Mid-West, Southwestern or Northwestern regions of the U.S. to join the committee.

Purpose 

To strengthen the Ryan White Program by giving clinicians a voice in federal policy and programmatic decision-making.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help shape HIVMA/RWMPC’s Ryan White Program policy and advocacy positions by sharing perspectives from the frontlines.
  • Participate in RWMPC advocacy activities.
  • Engage colleagues in RWMPC advocacy activities.


Ideal Qualifications

  • Engaged in clinical care or program administration at a clinical site receiving grant funding from the Ryan White Program.
  • Interest in advocating for federal funding for the Ryan White Program.
  • Interest in advancing policies that improve the delivery of health care services in clinics receiving Ryan White Program funding.
  • Experience in local or federal advocacy a plus but not required.
  • Seeking Ryan White providers in the Southern, Mid-West, Southwestern or Northwestern regions of the U.S.

Composition

Members shall include a chair and vice chair and a minimum of 13 committee members representing a diversity of states and clinical settings.

 

Meeting Frequency

The committee convenes virtually on the first Wednesday of the month in the evening and holds an advocacy day in the spring and a full coalition meeting in conjunction with IDWeek.

 

Estimated Time Commitment

Two to three hours per month with additional time in the spring and during October to prepare for the coalition’s annual luncheon.

 

Method of Appointment

The members shall be appointed by the chair and vice chair subject to approval by the HIVMA Executive Committee in consultation with the RWMPC convener and the HIVMA executive director.

 

Term of Office

The Chair and Vice Chair shall serve for two years in each role. New members shall serve an initial three-year term with the option to renew for a second term or continue to participate in as ex officio member.
