Design and deliver training content for the IDSA Leadership Institute.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the IDSA strategic plan through a work plan submitted annually for approval.
  • Oversee Community of Leaders, Rising Leaders, and alumni programs.
  • Review IDSA Leadership Institute schedule and curriculum annually; recommend revisions as needed. Work involves evaluating and conducting peer reviews of content drafted and completed by work group members
  • Submit session suggestions for IDWeek program.
  • Serve as workshop facilitators at the IDSA Leadership Institute Community of Leaders and in post-Institute trainings.
  • Upon request, participate in IDSA/HIVMA advocacy activities, responding to IDSA/HIVMA action alerts, joining IDSA/HIVMA for meetings with policymakers and encouraging colleagues to support IDSA/HIVMA advocacy.
  • Upon request, serve as a media spokesperson for IDSA in support of Society policies, positions and strategic priorities. If called upon to serve in this capacity, media training will be provided.

Estimated Time Commitment

  • Number of face-to-face meetings: 1 per year at IDWeek
  • Number of remote meetings: 12 per year, 1 hour each
  • Subcommittee members must serve as workshop facilitators at the annual Community of Leaders (typically two days each may) at least once in their term
  • Either the Chair or Vice-Chair must attend the Community of Leaders program each year.
  • The time commitment will vary depending on the curriculum development status, with a target average of 4-8 hours per month. Members will be asked to respond to email communications on a regular or as-needed basis. Ad hoc meetings may be scheduled as content development progresses. 

Method of Appointment

With input from the CEO, subcommittee chair, and subcommittee staff liaison, the members shall be appointed by the president and president-elect.

Terms of Office

  • Chair and Vice Chair: two years with the option of one additional, consecutive, one-year term.
  • Members: three-year terms with no option for consecutive reappointment.

  • Up to six at-large members

Reports to the Professional Development Committee
