Purpose
The FITE Test Writing Subcommittee oversees the development and produces the content for the IDSA Fellows’ In-Training Exam.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the annual development of IDSA’s Fellows’ In-Training Exam.
- Develop items for the FITE.
- Review item pool and ensure content is up to date.
Ideal Qualifications
Committee members are expected to have participated in an item-writing workshop prior to appointment or have experience with test item-writing. Membership needs may fluctuate, dependent upon exam topic areas in need of coverage.

Minimum of 14
Composition
Members shall include a Chair, Vice-Chair, at least 12 at-large members, and include one pharmacist and one pediatrician. Geography should be taken into consideration when selecting committee members.

Meeting Frequency
Annual two-day item-review meeting to be held at the National Board of Medical Examiners office in Philadelphia, PA or virtually. Biennial pool review meeting to be held during IDWeek either in-person or virtually.
Estimated Time Commitment
2-3 hours per month, in addition to two-five days per year for in-person meetings and travel.
Method of Appointment
The members shall be appointed by the Board of Directors, with input from the President-elect in consultation with the CEO, committee chair, and staff liaison.
Term of Office
The Chair and Vice Chair shall serve for two years. Reappointment for one additional, consecutive, one-year term is permissible. Members shall serve four-year terms with the option for one, consecutive, four-year reappointment.
