Designed for emerging infectious diseases and HIV leaders across the health care team, Rising Leaders Online is an online-only, open-registration training program focused on meeting the foundational leadership development needs of the IDSA community. Rising Leaders Online is for emerging leaders looking to:
- Understand the role of leaders in managing, mitigating, and confronting bias
- Define and apply foundational leadership theories and styles
- Analyze project management tools and methodologies
- Explore the fundamentals of healthcare finance
Purpose
To design, review, revise, host, and record webinars/session for the IDSA Leadership Institute Rising Leaders program.
Composition and Recognition
Members shall include a Chair and up to four additional members including clinicians, researchers, and public health practitioners. Each member shall receive a $2,500 honorarium in recognition of their support and contribution.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all content for Rising Leaders webinars/sessions
- Design and record two to four asynchronous webinars (15 to 30 minutes) for each preselected topic
- Host one 60-to-120-minute live reflection session for program attendees
- Evaluate and conduct peer reviews of content drafted and completed by other work group members.
Ideal Qualifications
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise
- Previous leadership experience within their place of employment
- Comfortable presenting in a digital format
- Experience in leadership development, education, professional coaching, and/or mentoring
We ask that members be interested in presenting on (ideally) more than one of the topic areas listed below:
- Leadership theories and styles
- Peer-to-peer coaching
- Project management tools and methodologies
- Fundamentals of medical finance
- Antiracism, diversity, and inclusion

Meeting Frequency
Teleconference to be held every two weeks (50 minutes each). Task force members will be asked to respond to email communications on a regular or as needed basis. Ad hoc meetings may be scheduled as content development progresses.
Estimated Time Commitment
Time commitment will vary depending on curriculum development status with a target average of 4 to 8 hours per month. All content must be delivered by September 18, 2021.
Method of Appointment
Members shall be invited by the IDSA Meetings and Education Department with input from the CEO and current work group chair and vice chair.
Term of Office
All task force member shall serve for twelve months. The first six months will constitute most of the time commitment. The last six months will be used for reflection and evaluation, as needed.
