The IDWeek Mentorship Program Committee is seeking broad representation of our IDSA membership including those with significant mentoring experience to join the committee. Committee members must attend IDWeek each year they serve on the committee and be able to attend the annual luncheon and in-person committee meeting at IDWeek. We are looking for a broad representation of experience, including but not limited to, industry, public health, infectious disease pharmacy, private practice, medical education, and research careers.


Purpose

The committee helps to lead strategic development and provides thought leadership for the IDWeek Mentorship Program. 

 

Responsibilities

The committee helps to manage the program design along with its funding strategy. The committee also helps to recruit and match mentor/mentee applications. Members approve all travel awardees and evaluates pre- and post-questionnaires. 

Ideal Qualifications

Previous mentoring experience is preferred.

Up to 8 members

 

Composition

The IDWeek Mentorship Committee is a non-voting committee of the IDSA Foundation. Composition of the Committee includes: Chair, Vice-Chair, and eight members (two-year terms).

 

Estimated Time Commitment

  • Participate in monthly committee calls and contribute to the mentor/mentee matching process (takes place in August/September).
  • Attend IDWeek each year while on the committee, and attend the luncheon at IDWeek.
  • Increased time required in the two-three months before IDWeek.
  • Approximately 25-30 hours per year.

 

Method of Appointment

With input from the CEO, committee chair, and committee staff liaison, the members shall be appointed by the IDSA Foundation Board of Directors.

 

Term of Office

The Chair and Vice Chair shall serve for two years.  Reappointment for one additional, consecutive, one-year term is permissible.  Members shall serve two-year terms with no option for consecutive reappointment.

Reports to the IDSA Foundation Board of Directors
