The IDWeek Mentorship Program Committee is seeking broad representation of our IDSA membership specifically those with significant mentoring experience to join the committee. Committee members must attend IDWeek each year they serve on the committee, and be able to attend events associated with the program both throughout the year and during IDWeek. We are looking for a broad representation of experience, including but not limited to, industry, public health, infectious disease pharmacy, private practice, medical education, and research careers with mentorship experience.


Purpose

The committee provides support to the mentor/ mentee application and matching process, and provides guidance to events and activities that ensure impactful program outcomes. The committee also supports with promotion of the mentorship program, and connection to networks that can actively expand the program

 

Responsibilities

The committee helps to recruit new mentors and mentees (with specific emphasis on recruitment of mentors and mentees from underrepresented populations), matches mentor/mentee applications, provides guidance and ideas for in person and virtual events, supports with evaluation standards and methods that ensure impactful program outcomes, and actively promotes the program through professional networks

Ideal Qualifications

Previous mentoring experience is required.

Up to 8 members

 

Composition

The IDWeek Mentorship Committee is a non-voting committee of the IDSA Foundation. Composition of the Committee includes: Chair, Vice-Chair, and eight members (two-year terms).

 

Estimated Time Commitment

  • Participate in monthly committee calls and contribute to the mentor/mentee matching process (takes place in August/September).
  • Recruit new mentors and mentees (with specific emphasis on recruitment of mentors and mentees from underrepresented populations
  • Provides guidance and ideas for in person and virtual events, amongst other activities
  • Supports with evaluation standards and methods that ensure impactful program outcomes
  • Actively promote and connect the program to networks that can expand the reach and long term impact 
  • Attend IDWeek each year while on the committee, and attend programs and or events associated with the program
  • Approximately 25-30 hours per year.

 

Method of Appointment

With input from the CEO, committee chair, and committee staff liaison, the members shall be appointed by the IDSA Foundation Board of Directors.

 

Term of Office

The Chair and Vice Chair shall serve for two years.  Reappointment for one additional, consecutive, one-year term is permissible.  Members shall serve three-year terms.

Reports to the IDSA Foundation Board of Directors
