Purpose
IDSA's COVID-19 Real Time Learning Network (RTLN), funded by the CDC, is currently being developed. This site will be a “one-stop” spot for clinicians of all disciplines and societies to obtain information and concise publication summaries about COVID-19. As the volume of publications and information surrounding COVID-19 escalates, IDSA is recruiting volunteers to serve as scientific contributors to help with content creation, particularly regarding writing up concise narrative reviews and creating slide decks around clinical content.
Responsibilities
- Duties will include writing short (maximum 600-700 words) narrative reviews in certain sections applicable to their clinical content knowledge (i.e., antibody testing; effect of COVID-19 in special populations; disease complications and manifestations) and potentially creating a slide deck on the topic.
- Update these sections at least twice a month.
- Work with the Medical Editor and Associate Medical Editor of the site for assignment of sections.
Ideal Qualifications
Infectious disease fellows, attendings, clinicians with in-depth knowledge regarding COVID-19. Experience with scientific writing and writing clear and concise content is required. Proficiency in producing high-quality work with attention to detail while adhering to a short deadline.
Composition
Members shall include a medical editor and associate medical editor, and five to seven scientific contributors.
Meeting Frequency
The group of volunteers will not hold meetings. Calls will be scheduled on an as-needed basis. Volunteers are expected to participate in a brief orientation, which can be flexibly scheduled.
Estimated Time Commitment
Time for orientation, time for staying up-to-date on COVID-19 content, time for creating the content, and time for updating the content twice a month. Estimated overall time commitment of up to 4 hours/week (flexible) with initial content development, with this decreasing to ~2 hours/week.
Method of Appointment
The members shall be appointed by VP of Clinical Affairs & Guidelines with input from the Medical Editor and Associate Medical Editor and IDSA staff.
Term of Office
Duration of the COVID-19 pandemic but initially running from end of August 2020 to December, 2020.
