Purpose

The Ending the HIV Epidemic Community of Practice will support a national forum for HIVMA members to network and support each other in implementing strategies to increase access to HIV syndemic services and support and grow the HIV workforce to make progress in ending HIV as an epidemic.  The CoP will promote equitable access to health services and person-centered care for people with HIV and people vulnerable to HIV.    

The CoP is not linked to the federal EHE initiative.   


Responsibilities

The Hot Topics in Clinical Care working group will identify, evaluate and provide guidance on hot HIV syndemic care clinical topics. Initial clinical topics to be addressed may include clinical issues related to long-acting injectables and other novel therapeutics and reducing stigma within health systems. The issues will evolve over time. 

Ideal Qualifications

Applicants to the Hot Topics in Clinical Care Workgroup should have an interest in implementing or responding to emerging issues in clinical care such as long-acting injectables for HIV prevention or treatment, or addressing stigma within health systems or novel approaches to extending HIV expertise.

All applicants should be interested in engaging with members to share best practices to advance the field and end HIV as an epidemic in the U.S.

Must embody IDSA’s Inclusion, Diversity, Access and Equity Principles.

Displays the appropriate Ideal Characteristics for IDSA Leadership for the role.

Number of Members

Minimum of 18 members

 

Composition

Members shall include a Chair, Vice Chair and at least 18 members.

 

Meeting Frequency

Meet bi-monthly. Working Group members will be asked to respond to email communications regularly or as needed.


One in-person forum during 
IDWeek.

 

Estimated Time Commitment

10-20 hours per year.

 

Term of Office

Working Group members will serve three-year terms.

Accountability

The Working Group will report to the Leadership Committee of the EHE Community of Practice.  

Leadership Committee: This group serves as the governing body of the EHE CoP. Membership includes (2) EHE CoP Chair/Vice Chair, (2) Clinic Operations Working Group Chair/Vice Chair, (2) Hot Topics in Clinical Care Working Group Chair/Vice Chair and (3) Members at Large.
